Biggie Smalls’ estate releases NFT collection

Those in charge of Biggie Smalls’ estate have collaborated with non-fungible (NFT) marketplace OneOf to create a 3,000-piece NFT collection in honour of the late rapper.

The collection named ‘Sky’s The Limit: The Notorious B.I.G. NFT Collection’ marks 25 years since the rapper’s death and is aimed at keeping the artist alive.

Wayne Barrow, lifelong friend and co-manager of the rapper’s estate, said: “This is a chance to give fans a piece of his legacy instead of just pushing the legacy on them.

“It’s what makes Web3 great – you can participate instead of just purchasing what somebody’s selling.”

Upon purchase of the Sky’s the Limit NFT, fans will be granted ownership of a generative profile picture selection featuring three artworks of Biggie, each named after a line from one of his infamous lyrics: “Richer than Richie,” “Business Instead of Game,” and “Brooklyn Bandit.”

Aside from the digital asset imagery, the star attraction of the NFT release is fans receiving voting rights over distribution of the unlicensed “Fulton Street Freestyle” from Biggie’s (formerly known as Christopher Wallace) early years rapping on a street in Brooklyn.

The freestyle will be available for artists to sample, mix and master into their own music, “with the approval and oversight of the collective (and estate)”, according to a press release.

In addition to sampling access, another venture from the estate is to enable all NFT holders access to the inaugural launch of The Brook Metaverse, a hub for “culture, music and entertainment”.

The collection went on sale to the public on Tuesday, July 26, and sold out within 10 minutes of the drop going live.

You may have missed out on Biggie’s NFT release but you can play at crypto casinos any time at trusted gaming sites such as Bitcasino, 1xBit or FortuneJack.
