Goldman Sachs executive Roger Bartlett has joined crypto exchange Coinbase.
Barlett, who brings years of international experience at the prominent investment bank, will be stepping in to lead the crypto exchange’s financial operations.
“After 16 years at Goldman Sachs, it is time to embrace the crypto economy. I am delighted to announce that next week I’ll be joining Coinbase to run global financial operations”, Bartlett said in a LinkedIn post at the end of last week.
Bartlett said Coinbase’s mission was inspiring and argued in favor of what he described as “economic freedom”. He added that he is happy to be part of the digital evolution and its further steps.
Meanwhile, Coinbase confirmed that the number of verified users – those that have undergone AML and KYC checks – has reached 89 million, with monthly transactions hitting 11.4 million at the end of 2021.
Bartlett’s expertise is welcome as he will help bring more clarity in how crypto should operate and what mainstream finance can still teach the sector. “The inspiring purpose-led mission to create economic freedom in the world, in a customer first, automation first approach is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of building the next stage of the digital evolution”, Bartlett said.
Whether you use Coinbase or not, you can still use your cryptocurrency to join websites such as Bitcasino, 1xBit or FortuneJack.
