NEW DELHI: Even as the Indian government is yet to announce whether cryptocurrencies would be treated as an asset or a currency, some companies have already started accepting them for their services and products.

Devilz Tattooz, a Delhi NCR-based tattoo chain, said it will start accepting Bitcoin, Ethereum and Cardano for its services. The company joins another Delhi-based business, The Rug Republic, which is a homegrown décor brand.

Devilz Tattooz is working with crypto-exchange platforms like Wazir X and Trust wallet to accept payments, the company said.

“I really believe in the technology behind Bitcoin, blockchain technology, which gives power in the hands of people and that’s how it should be. It is declassified and decentralized. So only a limited few do not control the monetary system. If young people like us will not support these new technologies then how can we expect to grow forward?,” said Lokesh Verma, founder of Devilz Tattooz.

Devilz Tattooz is a new entrant in the pack of startups and ventures accepting virtual currency. The buzz in the air is that the likes of Walmart and Amazon are trying to ramp up their preparations to be crypto ready.

However, despite increasing popularity, only a handful of businesses have come forward to treat cryptocurrencies as actual currencies. Rest are still in wait and watch mode.
