MasterCard has discovered that 40% of respondents to its recent survey intend to use cryptocurrency in the coming year or so.
The survey, which spanned 18 countries and 15,569 interviewees, found that millennials registered the highest interest with 67% saying that they were more open to the idea of a cryptocurrency compared to a year ago.
Another 77% said that they would be happy to find out more about crypto and how it works.
The survey took place between February 26 and March 10 and spanned numerous regions, including North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Africa and Asia-Pacific.
Interestingly, MasterCard omitted Europe from its poll, but gave no explanation as to why that was. Regulatory compliance may be one of the reasons but none of the polled regions has particularly crypto-friendly regulation and most is still work-in-progress.
MasterCard has not hidden its ambition towards crypto. The payment processor is one of many to seek early adoption, alongside companies such as PayPal and Revolut.
In the meantime, crypto is a viable payment method at numerous casino properties, including Bitcasino.io, 1xBit and FortuneJack.
