British professional golfer Ian Poulter has become the latest name to partner with Seychelles-based cryptocurrency platform OKX.
The five-time Ryder Cup winner will work with the cryptocurrency platform to promote its web3 crypto-trading offer in a bid to reach and educate more global golf fans.
Poulter debuted his OKX-branded visor and trousers during the 150th Open Championship where he was booed by a minority in the crowd due to his involvement in the Saudi Arabia-led LIV Golf Series.
OKX chief marketing officer Haider Rafique said: “Ian is a perfect fit for OKX. As we have seen throughout his 25-year career, he epitomises both the winning mentality needed to perform at the highest level and the ability to remain composed under pressure.
“He will help to both introduce OKX’s world-leading trading platforms to those in the golf sphere and educate a new audience on responsible crypto trading.
“Given that OKX is one of the original crypto exchanges, there is no more fitting time to announce this partnership than during The Open, the world’s oldest golf tournament.”
Poulter, a self-confessed ‘crypto-curious’ investor, will work with OKX and its web3 platform to launch unique NFTs as well as one-off experiences designed to appeal to golf fans.
OKX ambassador Ian Poulter said: “Golf is changing – it’s modernising – and so are the financial markets. I am by no means a traditional thinker, so I am excited to be involved in something that is putting innovation into action and enabling financial inclusion.
“OKX is a leader in this, and I am thrilled both to be partnering with them and to be sharing my own crypto journey with my fans.”
Earlier this year OKX signed a deal with Premier League winners Manchester City.
