Solana opens store in NYC

Blockchain platform Solana has opened the doors to its first standalone store in New York City.

The brand-new store named Solana Spaces opened to the public today and is in The Shops mall in Hudson Yards, Manhattan.

The launch is in collaboration with the blockchain network’s Solana Foundation.

Earlier this month, Solana Spaces tweeted the news of the upcoming inaugural store. “Welcome to the world of Solana, IRL. Coming very soon to NYC”, it read, with accompanying visuals of the interior.

The store will accept cryptocurrency as means of payment and boldly posted “Solana Pay Accepted Here” on the front of the store’s glass doors.

IRL (in real life) products and businesses are becoming widely popular in the world of Web3. Recently, rapper Snoop Dogg (now unveiled as the NFT collector cozomo de’ Medici) and Food Fighter’s Universe partnered to open an NFT-themed restaurant named Dr Bombay’s Sweet Exploration.

The idea came after the opening of the fast food eatery Bored & Hungry – inspired by a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT.

Alongside branded merchandise, Solana’s main goal with the new store is to educate people on venturing into the crypto space.

Solana Spaces CEO Vibhu Norby said it is “an experiment that we think a lot of people will love”.
