Paluzzi, through a screenshot, tried to show how users will be notified about being able to receive tips through the social media site.

According to the screenshot, Twitter’s Tip Jar will use the Lightning Network to let users collect their Bitcoin payments. Users will be able to collect tips in both Bitcoin and Ethereum, another screenshot suggested.

Twitter is using the services of Strike for Bitcoin payments.

Twitter’s product lead Kayvon Beykpour confirmed Paluzzi’s findings and said that the company is working on the feature. Beykpour retweeted Paluzzi’s initial tweet, with a ‘soon’ emoji, hinting that the feature may come soon on the platform.

The successful launch of this cryptocurrency feature will mark the latest addition by Twitter in a series of moves designed to help creators on the platform find a source of income.

However, it is yet not clear when the micro-blogging website plans to roll out its latest feature. Initially, it may be rolled out for users in limited geographies only as Twitter has done this in the past as well.

The latest development highlights the growing craze over cryptocurrencies as mode of payment or value exchange. The numero uno digital token Bitcoin is now trading around $51,000 mark, whereas Ethereum is just shy of $4,000.

Once the Tip Jar feature is set up on a profile, followers of the user can support them by sending tips. Twitter had also announced that the Tip Jar feature would be made available in multiple Indian languages including Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi and Tamil.
