Ubisoft partners with HBAR Foundation

Video gaming publisher Ubisoft has announced a partnership with the HBAR Foundation, which is a distributer of ledger technology aiding as an alternative to blockchain technology.

Ubisoft will become a member of the Hedera Governing Council to support the growth of the network. The firm will contribute to the future of Hedera alongside exploring its distributed ledger technology.

In addition, Ubisoft will implement a Hedera track into its Entrepreneurs Lab initiative, which focuses on the future of entertainment and supports start-ups worldwide. Via mentorship, workshops and projects; alongside utilizing resources, the publisher will work with a range of innovative companies, mainly those in the crypto and blockchain space.

HBAR Foundation director Alex Russman said: “Through this initiative, Ubisoft and the HBAR Foundation are forming a deep collaborative partnership, which recognizes the value proposition the Hedera network presents for the video games industry.

“Ubisoft has been a pioneer in its engagement with distributed ledger technology, and the decision to directly engage with THF to enhance the support it provides to entertainment and gaming innovators provides tremendous opportunities for developers, startups and users alike.”

For Ubisoft, the crypto journey hasn’t been without its setbacks. Recently the company announced it would launch in-game NFT items to its games, powered by Tezos.

However, its efforts incurred pushback from gamers; some snubbed the company, with fans saying video game NFTs would be a “major change”.

It seems like perseverance is key for the video publisher. With the HBAR Foundation helping fuel the growth of the Hedera ecosystem, processing more than two billion transactions generated by real-world applications, this is a positive move for Ubisoft.
