Visa to raise awareness for NFT and blockchain

Visa has launched an NFT-centric program in collaboration with crypto artist Micah Johnson today.

The initiative will seek to make NFTs more popular and help raise awareness of the technology that makes them possible. General understanding of the blockchain-based tech has remained low.

Visa plans to work with creators who want to help improve public perception and understanding of NFTs and blockchain.

The payment provider is looking to “foster meaningful relationships” through the program. Previously, Visa purchased a CryptoPunks NFT avatar for a whopping $150,000.

Visa VP of culture and commerce Cuy Sheffield said: “We believe that we are at the beginning of a digital renaissance in the world of art and content creation – a flourishing ecosystem of artists, musicians, writers, photographers, and curators building communities at the intersection of culture and commerce.”

According to Sheffield, NFTs serve a specific purpose in the crypto ecosystem, allowing digital creators to establish their footprint on the internet. The NFT serves as a deed of ownership and allows netizens to claim a piece of digital art, making it their exclusive property.

This extends to digital items such as artworks, videos and even highlights from sporting events as Dapper Labs has been doing with NBA Top Shot.

Visa is one of many brands to be embracing NFTs, with Arizona Iced Tea, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and others all exploring NFTs as a better way to engage with customer bases.

Meanwhile, crypto remains a popular payment option for users who enjoy betting on casino and sports games and events. Bitcasino.io, 1xBit and FortuneJack are perfect places to experience this type of gaming.
