Bitcoin (BTC) centric gaming start-up ZEBEDEE has announced its integration of crypto payments provider MoonPay.
The integration will enable US users to purchase BTC through MoonPay using a credit or debit card. ZEBEDEE’s BTC gaming wallet will be available via desktop browser extensions and mobile apps.
Alongside enabling users to exchange BTC for fiat currency through MoonPay, the overarching plan is to add several more countries to make it possible for gamers to convert BTC into US dollars or other currencies.
ZEBEDEE CEO Simon Cowell described it as: “A seamless experience for people to start using Bitcoin, without it feeling like a burden, which is often the experience of using finance apps or exchanges for people who are not as tech-savvy.”
ZEBEDEE will also provide developer tools aimed at game creators to use BTC via the Lightning Network, which is a scaling solution designed to support cost-efficient and speedy transactions. Creators will be able to earn BTC for match wins and wager BTC on online matches.
ZEBEDEE launched specialized servers earlier this year for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the popular online shooter enabling players to wager BTC in matches (in small amounts).
There are other games that support ZEBEDEE’s BTC payments, such as the mobile action game SaruTobi and racing game ZEBEDEE Kart.
ZEBEDEE raised $11.5m in funding last September, led by venture capital firm Lakestar.
